INFLATION RATE IN MOLDOVA MADE UP 0,2% IN DECEMBER, 2011 AND 7,8% IN THE YEAR OF 2011 GENERALLY

In December, 2010, inflation rate was 1,3% and Consumer Price Index grew by 8,1% within the year of 2012, the National Bureau of Statistics informs. In January- December of 2011, provisions prices grew by 7,4%, with nonfoods increasing in price by 5,2%; fees for services rendered to population rose by 11,6%. In December, 2011, prices for foods and nonfoods increased by 0,3% and 0,2% respectively. Fees for services rendered to population stayed unchanged. December, 2011 was characterized by growth in prices for vegetables. In particular, tomatoes went up by 13,7%, cucumbers – by 7,7%, carrots – by 3,4%, sugar beet – by 2,4%. Grapes grew in prices by 3,6%, milk and dairy products – by 0,5%. At the same time, in December, 2011 prices declined by 2,7% for sugar, by 1% for potatoes, by 0,5% for onions and by 0,6% for fresh fruit. In particular, citrus fruit went down by 5,3%. According to the official findings, in December, 2011 prices for majority of nonfoods and fees for services rendered to population stayed the same. However, there was the slight growth in prices for children cloths – by 0,5%, children winter footwear – by 0,3%, catering – by 0,4%. Prices for air and railway tickets went down in December, 2011 by 5,2% and 0,5% respectively. Earlier, the National Bank of Moldova raised the inflation rate predicted for 2011 from 8,4% to 9,6%, but lowered the the inflation rate predicted for 2012 from 7,4% to 6,5%.

    According to the National Bureau of Statistics, this is 1,2% up as compared with the same period of 2011. In Q1, 2012 the sales turnover of enterprise with retail sales as their primary business line grew 4,4% in comparable prices against numbers of Q1, 2011. The sales turnover of enterprises rendering market services to population increased 18,9% as compared with the previous month and 3,4% as compared with March, 2011. In Q, 1, 2012 their turnover increased 3,7% in comparable prices as compared with Q1, 2011.

    Adjusted to inflation, it grew 4,1% in real terms. The average wage was2957,5 leis if the budget sector and 3423,6 leis in the real sector, growing 11,9% and 8,8% respectively. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the highest average salary was paid to workers of the banking sector and made 7214,8 leis(+15,6% against March, 2011).
